Are Vampires Stealing Your Time and Energy?

Greetings Lifers,

What do you do when you know you have people around you that are taking the life out of you?

Today’s episode is about keeping the  vampires out of your life.  The reason I call them “vampires” is because every time you’re around these people, they tend to suck the life right out of you.    Not only do they steal your precious energy so that you’re left drained and not wanting to do anything else but veg out on the couch or worse,  they stress you out to the max and get you so upset you feel horrible.

These vampires can be a family member, a BFF, a neighbor, store owner where you frequent or even a co-worker who won’t leave you to your work and all they do is complain, complain, complain.   Do you happen to have anyone like this in your circle?

I once had a dear friend who I will leave nameless that ever time I spoke or got together with her, she did nothing but complain about EVERYTHING.  Whether it was her job, her family, her boyfriend.  I knew her for a very long time and would feel guilty if I didn’t listen long and hard to her griping.  Each time I would try to console her and offer her sage advice, she would dismiss it and never try to do anything to change the situation. So, it left me no choice but to guard my time, my mind and my agenda.

Have you ever heard the expression “misery loves company?” I believe this truly exists and I also think that there are a lot of people out there who are unhappy and lead unfulfilled lives.

And, in turn, I believe they try to rub it off onto those who are positive, who have ambition and dreams and goals. Those who are willing to put in the work to better their lives and themselves.

So, what do you do when you have these kind of people in your life?  Well, take a listen to today’s show.  I will cover some ways you can keep these energy suckers out of your life.

When you feel that this is happening to you, you must realize it for what it is, someone who is never really going to change.  You can’t help someone is they’re not ready.  As Joseph Campbell said “when the student is ready, the teacher will come”.

Learning to protect your time is a skill, a very important one at that.  So, my advice to you is to not cut them off all together, but maybe not hang out with them as often so that you can still feel good, and get your life’s goals accomplished and have some fun!

Best of luck to you, I know you can do this.

Remember to live happily, lovingly, successfully, luxuriously and necessarily!
